Publication of Results from the EU project "Identifying Levers to Unlock Clean Industry"

The study jointly worked out by IDEA Consult (Brussels), NIW, and WIFO (Vienna) aims at identifying priority sectors within the "Clean Industry" branch, which have promising growth and employment potential. "Clean Industries" are defined as sectors or segments within the overall economy, which supply technologies, goods or services that effectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions and improve energy and resource efficiency.

The Lower Saxony Institute for Economic Research (NIW) is liquidated

After 35 years of activity, the general meeting of the Lower Saxony Institute for Economic Research (NIW) decided to liquidate the organization by 30 June 2016. The institute was founded in 1981 as an independent economic research institute on the initiative of the state government of Lower Saxony. In more than three decades of its activity, the NIW comprehensively conducted scientific analyses and expertises for the federal state, its regions and local authorities as well as for national and international customers.

Nach 35-jähriger Tätigkeit hat die Mitgliederversammlung des Niedersächsischen Instituts für Wirtschaftsforschung e.V. (NIW) die Auflösung des Vereins zum 30. Juni 2016 beschlossen. Dies war notwendig geworden, nachdem das Land Niedersachsen mit der Begründung veränderter Förderprioritäten die Einstellung der institutionellen Förderung des Instituts erklärt hatte. Mit der Schließung des NIW verliert das Land sein einziges unabhängiges Wirtschaftsforschungsinstitut.
