Environmental Protection as an Economic Factor: New List of Environmental Protection Goods for Research

The importance of environmental protection for the German economy grows. The NIW has already evaluated the production structure and international competitiveness of the environmental protection economy several times on behalf of the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). These evaluations require a definition which goods belong to environmental protection. The NIWs newly published method report describes the procedure to identify potential environmental protection goods and provides a list of such goods, based on the current list of goods for the productions statistics.

Regional Report 2012 of the Lower Saxony Regional Monitoring is released

The Regional Report Lower Saxony 2012 is the seventh regional report. The NIW has summarized and presented the key results based on a selection of indicators and relevant data.

The Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation (EFI) has handed over its annual report to the Federal Government. The NIW made five studies on the German innovation system together with other research institutes for this report.

Das Wachstum der deutschen und der niedersächsischen Wirtschaft hat sich 2012 spürbar abgeschwächt. Das NIEDERSÄCHSISCHE INSTITUT FÜR WIRTSCHAFTSFORSCHUNG (NIW) rechnet in seiner aktuellen Einschätzung im NIW-Konjunkturletter aber wieder mit einer leichten Belebung im Jahr 2013. Für diese Belebung wird die weltwirtschaftliche Dynamik von entscheidender Bedeutung sein.
